The Big Ten voted to cancel its 2020 football season in a 12-2 vote Sunday, reported by the Detroit Free Press. According to Joey Burrow’s Twitter page, Joey’s old tweets had resurfaced earlier today but has since then been deleted, from reportedly LSU administration having him remove the tweets that could cause conflict going forward. Indeed, he deleted the remarks, but the damage had already been done.

Then, disaster struck.
With about 12 minutes left in the third quarter, Burrow was sandwiched between two Washington defenders on a pass attempt, and after the play ended, the No. 1 overall pick was writhing in pain on the field.
Burrow would eventually be carted to the locker room and quickly ruled out, as it was pretty obvious he suffered a significant left knee injury.
Soon after, a outpour of support came for Burrow via Twitter.
Initial shock
It was obviously a huge moment heard around the league. As the camera went back to Burrow clinging to his knee, every Bengal fan knew that this season and any sign of optimism in 2020 was completely over. Sadness, anger and even numbness was the collective feeling as everyone came to grasp with the reality that Burrow’s season was likely over.
Oh boy. Joe Burrow on the ground. Looks bad.

Burrow is the toughest quarterback I’ve ever seen.
The fact that he’s down shows me this is bad.
Very much prayers going out to him.

The news obviously spread very quickly as the No. 1 overall pick from the 2020 draft went down. Journalists and talking heads sent their thoughts and support to the rookie who will be facing plenty of adversity going forward.

— Ken Anderson (@KenAndersonNFL) November 22, 2020I wanted to separate these reactions from the rest because it seems like a good opportunity to remind some fans and people at the end of the day, these players are still people. These players create bonds that go deeper than we can imagine on a surface level. Carlos Dunlap hasn’t been viewed in a very good light by fans recently with the way he forced himself out of Cincinnati, but he was one of the first players to send prayers and respect towards his former quarterback. I’m not telling you how to feel about a person, but maybe we can all learn to take a deep breath before being so unnecessary personal or cruel when talking about players.
“ ” up JB9 !!!!
— Carlos Dunlap (@Carlos_Dunlap) November 22, 2020Sad part of the game... Hope it’s something minimal! The clouds are the floor for that kid.
— Carlos Dunlap (@Carlos_Dunlap) November 22, 2020Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said he remains on track for the start of the 2021 season.
In an interview with 'The Cris Collinsworth Podcast featuring Richard Sherman,' Burrow said he is 'ahead of schedule' following reconstructive knee surgery to repair injuries that ended his rookie season. He said he should be ready for the team's season opener.
'I'm expecting to be there on the first snap of 2021,' Burrow said on the podcast, which was released on Tuesday.

Burrow's comments are believed to be his first public statements since January, one month after the surgery to repair the ACL and MCL ligaments in his left knee. Burrow suffered the injury in a loss to Washington on Nov. 22.

The former LSU standout and Heisman Trophy winner said he's roughly halfway through the recovery process and is 'feeling really good' as he looks to make his return.
'I'm very optimistic about where I'm at and also where the team's at,' Burrow said. 'Rehab is going very, very well. Lifting is going very, very well. I'm in great shape. Legs feel good. Knee feels good.'
Joe Burrow Twitter Comments
Before the injury, Burrow showed why the Bengals drafted him with the No. 1 pick last year. Burrow started 10 games and completed 65.3% of his passes for 2,688 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions.
He said there are still opportunities to delay his return timetable but that the current progress is a good sign.
Joe Burrow Twitter Reaction
'It's about a nine-month recovery process,' Burrow said on the podcast. 'So there's still a long way to go. There's still opportunities for setbacks. But the way I'm feeling right now, I'm very optimistic that I'll be ready Game 1.'
